Mgr. Jackman Quotes With Approval . . . But
Preaching at Holy Rood, Watford, on Sunday, Canon Jackman quoted with approval the words of Mgr. Fulton Sheen, printed in last week's CATHOLIC HERALD, saying that indeed it was absolutely true to say that it was far more important for a priest to pay his housekeeper a decent wage than to preach on the Pope's social encyclicals.
Living one's faith was more telling than talking about it. The Canon, however, begged his hearers not to go telling his housekeeper what he had said, " thus putting ideas into her head."
