PRAYER FOR PRISONERS

THE Pope on Tuesday called upon prison inmates to pray for that world which had "rejected" them. The prayer, which appeared on the front page of the Vatican City newspaper Osservatore Romano in the Pope's own handwriting, said: " 0 Divine Redeemer, give aid and resignation to our dear ones who weep for us who are distant. Give peace and tranquillity to that world which has rejected us, which we love, and to which we promise to give our collaboration as good citizens in the future."
The prayer carries a special Papal indulgence for those prisoners who recite the new prayer.
