BBC-1 Malta GC (Tuesday, 9.25 p.m.). Ian Holm narrates the story of the siege of Malta, with archive film shot by Army and Navy cameramen. Between 1940 and 1942 Malta withstood 3,214 air attacks and 14,000 tons of high explosive, at one stage having the three Gladiator biplanes., BBC-2 L'Egisto (Saturday, 7.30 p.m.).
John Cox's acclaimed production of Cavalli's opera. Originally seen at the Santa Fe Festival, this is one of a series of performances recently given by Scottish Opera.
God Speed Co-operation (Sunday, 8.10 p.m.). Sheila MacLeod's play is the story of two women from poor backgrounds who are members of the Women's Co-operative Guild at the turn of the century. Moira Armstrong directs, with Kathryn Pogson as Bella and Kathleen Michael as Mrs Layton.
'Timewatch (Wednesday, 8 p.m.). John Tusa presents a new historical series that seeks to reexamine famous events in the context of their effect on us today. Maitre Blum, long time lawyer to the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, speaks about the new book The Duke of Windsor's War. Tusa also questions Michael Bloch and David Cannadine about the biography.
