FINISHING touches to a draft Directory on Ecumenical Activity have been given by 47 members and consultors of the Secretariat for the Promotion of Christian Unity. This was the result of its first plenary session siii.e the Vatican Council closed last year.
also the first since Pope Paul decreed that it should become a permanent institution.
The session examined the progress of the ecumenical movement. Reports were read on the work of mixed commissions in conjunction with the World Council of Churches and the World Lutheran Federation, the visit of Archbishop Ramsey to Pope Paul, and contacts with Eastern Churches.
Hope was expressed that the mixed commission of Anglicans and Catholics, which Dr. Ramsey and Pope Paul agreed to create, would soon be under weigh.
