From a Staff Reporter After speaking for a quarter of an hour at the Apostleship of the Sea dinner at Grosvenor House on Wednesday, Fr. C. C. Martindale, S.J., left the table and collapsed.
He was taken home and arrangements made for him to enter the Hospital of St. John and St. Elizabeth on Thursday.
It is understood that Fr. Martindale has fainted twice previously during the past week.
The chairman_of the dinner-was the Duke of -Norfolk and the guest of honour was Cardinal Hinsley, and a brilliant concourse attended in his honour.
The funds of the Apostleship of the Sea will benefit to the 'extent of £1,000 as a result, £560 being collected before and £364 during the dinner, the balance being made up of miscellaneous donations.
On enquiry at Farm Street yesterday the CAIHOLIC HERALD was informed that Fr. Martindale was better and had said Mass in the morning.
