A university in which Africans and Europeans will study side by side is to be founded next year in the Belgian Congo as the result of cooperation between the Government and the missions.
This University of the Belgian Congo will be a new foundation of the University of Louvain, Belgium. The site is at Kimuenza, near Leopoldville. the Belgian Congo's capital. There will be faculties in law and medicine and an agricultural school.
The official opening is to be in January. Later in the year a College of Philosophy will open near by, with 15 Congolese preparing for entry into the Jesuit novitiate as its first students.
