Fr. Lorenzoni, 0.Carm.
FORMER PRIOR GENERAL
News has recently reached London from Rome of the death on New Year's Day of the Most Rev. John Lorenzoni, 0.Carm., former Prior General and oldest member of the Carmelite Order.
The aged and distinguished priest spent a long and fruitful career in the service of his Church and Order. Ile was born on Christmas Day, 1850, and ordained to the priesthood in 1874.
Within his Order Fr. Lorenzoni filled every office of authority from the lowest to the Generalate itself. Soon after ordination he was appointed Master of Professed and front that time until his death he became at various times Master of Novices, Prior, Vicar-Provincial, Provincial, and Assistant-General. On the death of the Prior General, the Most Rev. Pius Mayer, 0.Cartn., Fr. Lorenzoni succeeded as head of the Order and guided its fortunes for a year and six months. Fr. Lorenzoni also spent many years as a professor of Philosophy and Theology in various houses of study in Italy. .
Dom C. Guedon, O.S.B.
Dom Camillus Guedon, 0.S.B., who died at Quarr Abbey, on 'January 12, the fourth anniversary, of his friend Prior Bouvet, was born in 1865 and ordained priest at Chartres in 1888. He was professed at Solesrnes in 1901, a few months before the community left for England. For thirty years he was in charge of the lay-brothers, and he was the devoted chaplain of the nuns of Solesmes (then at Northwood, Cowes) and of those of St. Cecilia's Abbey at Ryde.
Mother Amabilie Keogh
The interment has taken place at Leyton. Essex, following Requiem Mass celebrated by Canon William O'Neill, of Mother Amabilie Keogh, a native of Dublin, and Reverend Mother for the past 13 years of the Etloe House, Leyton, Convent for feeble-minded girls. Mother Amabilie entered the Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary 57 years ago and was Rev. Mother of the Order's houses in Mount Vernon (Edinburgh) and Highgate before going to Leyton. A very admirable administrator, her lifework was the care and wel fare of feebleminded youth. She was a member of the Council of the Chigwell Nuns, in which a niece is also professed.
Mr. J. C. Stone
The death has occurred at Thyrbeg, near Rotherham, of Mr. James C. Stone, at the age of 75. Mr. Stone, who was born at Hanley, retired from the teaching profession in 1925, after about 40 years' service. He served for many years in the Pottery district before taking up a post in Scotland. In 1908 he was appointed headmaster of St. Joseph's, Sunderland, where he reorganised the school and founded the boys' choir.
Mr. Stone was connected with many associations and held office in the K.S.C. and the Gaelic League, in which he taught the Gaelic language. For more than 20 years he organised the Corpus Christi processions in Sunderland, and in 1924 he acted as marshal of the procession of 10,000 local Catholic men who accompanied the late Cardinal Bourne to the Bede Memorial in Sunderland.
Mr. H. A. Barrett
At Overy Manor, Dorchester, there died from influenza on January 16 Herbert Augustine Barrett, at the age of 69. He was the second son of John Basil Barrett, J.P., of Milton House, Abingdon, and The Priory, Great Milton, Oxon., and was educated at Beaumont.
