REVIVING THE CHRYSOSTOM SOCIETY

cOMMITITE members of the
Society of St. John Chrysostom, which has been inactive for some 10 years, met in London last week to discuss its revival. The aims of the Society are to interest Latin Catholics here in the liturgy of the Eastern Churches and in their history as well.
Mgr. J. M. T. Barton, the chairman, Prebendary R. Pilkington, the hon. secretary, and Fr. C. Sipovich, M.I.C. (of the ByzantineSlavonic rite), are among those who have received requests for a renewal of the activities of the society.
Increased interest in the matter has been shown by readers of the CATHOLIC HERALD recently, following on the Pope's intention to make the reunion of the East a matter for discussion at the General Council. Interviews with leading Orthodox bishops in London, published by this paper, have shown interest on their part as well in action directed towards closer understanding between Catholics and Orthodox.
