VOCATIONS ARE UP IN PORTSMOUTH

THERE has been a definite increase in the number of aspirants for the priesthood in the Portsmouth diocese, said Archbishop King, Bishop of Portsmouth,. in a Pastoral Letter read in all churches of his diocese last Sunday.
Eight new candidates had just begun their preliminary studies, and the number of students from the diocese now studying in major seminaries had reached 28.
Appealing for contributions to the Ecclesiastical Education Fund, Archbishop King said that his appeal last November had brought in £2,688.
