Diana opens new Catholic hostel

PRINCESS DIANA OPENED a new hostel for the homeless earlier this week.
The Depaul Trust's hostel in Willesden has been newly refurbished as a long stay refuge for young people who have been sleeping rough. The Princess, who has long been a strong supporter of the Trust, spent Tuesday looking at the results.
The concept of the Depaul Trust is to help youngsters get off the street and into their own, permanent accommo dation. The aim is also to free them from dependency on the benefits system.
The new hostel provides food and shelter, and also counselling, skills training, and help with employment and housing. Of the 14 people currently in residence, only four are not employed or in higher education.
The opening was also attended by patron of the Trust, Cardinal Basil Hume, and its president, newscaster Trevor McDonald.
