Horizon protest
LIFE, the anti-abortion organisation, has this week accused the BBC of allowing "a propaganda coup for the pro-experimenters" in its screening of a Horizon documentary on Tuesday.
Nuala Scarisbrick, national administrator of LIFE, said that she had written to the chairman of the BBC, Marmaduke Hussey, reminding him that the BBC's charter demanded impartiality when tackling important issues. Ms Scarisbrick said the BBC2 programme, "The First 14 Days", had presented only one side of the abortion debate, and she requested that the BBC allocate equal viewing time for LIFE to put forward its reply.
Keith Davies, LIFE's campaign co-ordinator, also made a "formal protest" to Mr Hussey about the programme. Mr Davies claimed it had been "distorted, one-sided and untruthful propaganda".
