Devotion to the Sacred Heart

Having recently written a little on the subject of devotion to the Sacred Heart in honour of the third centenary of the apparitions to St Margaret Mary at Paray-le-Monial (June 21) I have received a number of welcome letters.
thought that those readers of yours "whom it may concern" might be interested in one seemingly excellent suggestion contained in those letters: "Why cannot we have exposition of the Blessed Sacrament for an hour each Saturday during the usual 'confession time' so that those who wish can make at least part of an Holy Hour of adoration and reconciliation?"
There are, of course, administrative difficulties in many cases, and some little organisation would be required. But the renewal benefit would be at least three-fold: 1 —Our Saviour's earnest request to St Margaret Mary would be heeded.
There would be a very positive encouragement to have recourse to the Sacrament of Penance, the other of the "daily Sacraments" which has of late become so neglected.
3 -A greater familiarity with the exposed Blessed Sacrament — again something which has to a large extent become lost in the last decade or two. One not infrequently conies across young teenagers who have never in their lives seen the Eucharist in a monstrance, let alone have learnt to adore and reverence it.
The faithful could be ex horted to spend a few minutes in adoration — preferably in family units. Some no doubt would like to spend the whole
Holy I-lour this way.
And peace — industrial.
political and international is something we need to pray for urgently. The priest who hears the confession could expose and depose; and a simple rota of "watchers" could easily be scheduled.
