Rev. N. Comerford, C.M.

After a long illness Fr. Nicholas Cornerford, C.M., died on the 15th inst. at St. Vincent's, Sheffield, at the age of sixty-four. He had been associated with that parish for many years. and will be greatly missed, particularly by the members of the Catholic Young Men's Society, to whom he was a beloved Director, and the Catholic students of Sheffield University, who had him as a leader and companion on a number of Continental visits. The poor, also, lose in him a devoted friend.
Irish by birth and education: his schools were Castleknock, the Irish College in Paris. and Blackrock College, Fr. Comerford spent the early part of his priesthood in Dublin. Afterwards he came to England and worked at St. Mary's Training College, then in its old quarters at Hammersmith. It was in 1913 that he was appointed to the Sheffield parish, where the Vincentian Fathers have one of the oldest and most vigorous centres in the city.
The interment took place at St. Michael's, Rivelin, after a requiem Mass, last Monday, at St. Vincent's.
