900 enrol for Anglican

and Catholic school
More than 900 pupils of both sexes enrolled for the new Anglican Catholic secondary school, the first in London, which opened in Richmond. Surrey last week. Another 25 children are on the waiting list.
Formed by the merger of the former St Mary's Church of England and St Edward the Confessor Catholic schools, which faced each other in Queen's Road. the school is called Christ's School. Joint assemblies arc held of both Anglican and Catholic children, taken by Canon John Oates. vicar of Richmond, and by Canon Francis Davys of Sc Elizabeth's Catholic Church. In addition, there will be three classes each week for religious education. two for both denominations and one denominational.
An official opening of the new school is planned for next year.
