Nazis Arrest Czech Priests

From au,r German Correspondent
LUXE1931.113G
For some weeks news had been coming from the "Protectorate " of Bohemia and Moravia about wholesale arrests of Czech priests.
This has now been confirmed by official German circles. They say that arrests were carried through " in the interest of public order and safety," and that among those who were arrested there were a certain number of Catholic priests. It is, however, untrue, declares the German communiqué, that a systematic persecution against the clergy has begun.
Certainly the persecution against the clergy is not more "systematic " than that against other groups of people which the Nazis dislike. It seems, however, that several high ecclesiastic dignitaries are in prison and that arrests were particularly numerous in the Moravian cities of Brno and Olomouc.
