A JESUIT SCHOI AR said historical evidence shows that when reports of Nazi death camps emerged late in World War H, Vatican diplomats worked to learn more and protest the mass deportations and killings. US Fr Robert Graham, who has studied declassified material from the period at the Vatican and elsewhere, said that among those who acted was Pope Pius XII, accused by some groups of "silence" in the face of the Jewish holocaust.
