Hungarian Bishop Dies: Mgr. Stefan Breyer, Bishop of Gyor, has died aged 60, Ile was born in Budapest, the son of a labourer. In 1929 he was made Titular Bishop of Trisipa and Auxiliary Bishop of Esztergom, and was transferred to the See of Gyor in 1933.
New French Bishop: Canon Auguste Cesbron, Superior of the Petit Seminary of Beaupreau, in the Diocese of Angers, has been named Bishop of Annecy. This Sec became vacant in May with the elevation of Bishop du Bois dc la Villerabel to the Archiepiscopal See of Aix. The new Bishop is 53.
Vatican Appointment: Mgr. Silvio Sericano has been named Undersecretary of the Sacred Congregation of Extraordinary Ecclesiastical Affairs. Mgr. Sericano was born in Piedmont in l889. He was named Secretary of the Apostolic Nunciature to Costa Rica in 1925, Secretary of the Apostolic Nunciature in Vienna in 1929, Auditor, then Counsellor and then Charge d'Affaires of the Apostolic Nuncio in Madrid in 1933, and was called back to the Vatican in 1937 to take a place in the first section of the Vatican Secretariate of State.
Catechism by Radio: The Rev. Don H. Hughes, of Tucson, Arizona, has arranged for a series of 30 broadcasts over the Arizona radio which is designed to teach the catechism to children. The programmes will include questions and answers and playlets designed to illustrate the teaching and performed by children in the studio.
