POPE QUOTEI) BY PRESIDENT

Argentine's President, Arturo quoted Pope John's social encyclical Mater et Magistra in urging his Congress to adopt legislation which would keep the people from falling into totalitarian programmes. In his reform bill recommending a living wage, he quoted Pope John's statement that "the economic wealth of a people consists not only in a total abundance of goods, but also and still more in a true distribution, according to justice, as a guarantee of the personal development of the members of a cornmunity, in which consists the true .iim of economy".
