REV. L. OOSTERLAAN
DUTCH MILL HILL PRIEST
We regret to announce the death of the Rev. Leonard Oostcrlaan on Sunday, May 17, at Dollis llill Hospital after a serious opelation.
Fr. Oesterlaan was born near Haarlem in Holland on December 3, 1872, and was ordained at Mill Hill in 1898 by Cardinal Vaughan for St. Joseph's Missionary Society. For many years he was professor of Liturgy and Ecclesiastical History at Mill Hill, but for the last few years he was engaged in more active parochial work, especially at West Drayton, and latterly at Mullion, Cornwall. He was buried on May 20 at St. Joseph's College, Mill Hill.
CAPT. J. E. HARRIS Following a Requiem Mass at the Church of the Holy Spirit, West Bridgford, Notts, last week, the funeral took place at the Wilford Hill cemetery of Captain J. E. Harris, of the Leicestershire Regiment. A veteran of both the Boer War and the Great War, Captain Harris was, prior to the last war, the sergeant-instructor to the Nottingham University College 0.T.C., but gained his commission during the war. The Catholic ex-Servicemen's Association, the Old Contemptibies Association and the University College O.T.C. all sent representatives to the • Requiem Mass, which was celebrated by Fr. R. Woodbridge.
REQUIEM FOR TWO LEEDS NUNS
Mount St. Mary's°Convent, Leeds, has sustained a heavy loss by the deaths, on Sunday last, of two revered members of the community, Sister Mary Celsus (née Harnett), aged 66, who until her retirement six months ago had been headmistress of Mount St. Mary's junior school for 37 years; and Sister Mary Francis (nee Brady), aged 82, who for many years had been meager of the girls' orphanage.
Sister Mary Celsus, who was a native of Limerick, had been 44 years in religion. Sister Jane Francis was born at Cavan, and had been 54 years in religion. Solemn Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Mary's on Tuesday by the Rev. T. Brady (nephew of the elder nun), and the double interment took place at Killingheck.
Mr. John Wilcock 07), who died with tragic suddenness at Bradhurst Farm, Stonyhurst, and was interred on May 12, was for 30 years farm manager. at Stonyhurst Jesuit College, and widely known in agricultural circles. He collapsed and died in the farmyard. Requiem Mass was said at St. Peter's Church, Stonyhurst, by Father Magee.
