I AM writing to ask about altar serving.
A few weeks ago a friend and I put up our names for a "would-be" altar servers' list, only to find a note in the parish newsletter the following week that we weren't allowed to be altar servers "we are not ready for girl servers."
When we asked the priest in charge of altar serving at our church he said that "Rome says so."
What does Rome decree? Why do this to altar servers when women are allowed to be eucharistic ministers which is far more important than serving?
Is there any chance of them letting girls serve in the near future?
