Astonished wait for sainthood

IF YOU think the policemen are getting younger, how old do you feel if you think Saints are getting younger?
When I saw Pope John the twenty-third is on the verge of acknowledged sainthood, I wanted someone to pass me my stick and oil my wheelchair. I saw the great man in Rome.
I was even one of his heroworshippers who bought his mammoth book Journal of a Soul and, more than that, read it. I'm quite certain, in my own mind, that the man is a saint but the official posting is another thing.
They can't possibly have had a reply back from "Upstairs" so soon. I was about to be carried away by this un-Catholic haste when I turned a page of the newspaper I was reading and discovered the news that progress was being made towards the canonisation of Juan Diego, the Aztec Indian, to whom Our Lady of Guadalupe was said to have appeared.
When? 1531. Admittedly I'm not a Mexican, but do I care now? Frankly, I don't. Even the date is unreal to me but, of course, I can't have it both ways.
