'Stars on Sunday' choirs plan new record

By A Staff Reporter
The explosion of music which began in St. Winifred's Primary School, Heaton Mersey, Stockport, five years ago, reached Yorkshire Television's "Stars on Sunday" this week.
Sister Aquinas, the headmistress, said interest in folk music and guitar-playing began when Miss ()live Moore, one of the teachers, formed a choir among children of 8 to II.
Miss Moore comes from a family of singers and dancers and her enthusiasm was catching. St. Winifred's now has two choirs and is planning to cut a second record.
Both choirs, one of which is made up of girls who left the school on obtaining their 11-plus, sing at Masses in the parish church of St. Winifred's. So many children showed interest in learning to play the guitar they were split into two groups -one under Mks Moore, another under Miss Terry Foley.
