To Lourdes and Lisieux

The Hexham and Newcastle diocesan pilgrimage to Lourdes next August is breaking away from the traditional itineraries of Lourdes pilgrimages by staying at Lisieux on the return journey for a night and the greater part of the following day. Now that the Basilica at Lisieux is nearing completion, it is possible for large pilgrimages to carry out their devotions in a body, and arrangements are being made for solemn High Mass for the Hexham and Newcastle pilgrims this year, in the beautiful new building, while the pilgrims will be taken in groups to visit the shrine of the "Little Flower " in the chapel of the Carmel and the house, "Les 13uissonets," where she lived as a child.
Special accommodation is being provided at Lisieux for the sick who will have been lodged at the Hospital at Lourdes, while every hotel in the town has been booked for the main body.
Three London parishes have decided to take their parochial pilgrimages by the same itinerary on the same dates, viz. Copenhagen Street, Soho, and Kensal New Town. The combined numbers from North and South will make a fine demonstration of the devotion of English Catholics to the popular little Saint of Lisieux.
