Papal Honour for 1Fr. Philip Hughes=

Fr. Philip Hughes, one of the best-known Catholic historians of our day, has been appointed a Domestic Prelate by the Holy Father. tie is at present in the United States, lecturing at Notre Dame University, Indiana.
A priest of the Salford diocese, Mgr. Hughes was born in 1895 and educated at St. Bede's College (Manchester), Ushaw, I.eeds and Louvain. After his ordinadon in 1920 he spent some time in Rome and the United States, returning to Manchester in 1924. There he remained, engaged in parish work, until 1931. He was archivist of Westminster from 1934 to 1939.
His works include "A History of the Church," "The Faith in Practice," "The Continental Reformation" "A Popular History of the Church," and "The Reformation in England." His latest work, "A Popular History of the Reformation," has already appeared in the United States and is being published in England this month.
Mgr. Ilughes was recently awarded honorary doctorates by the University of Louvain and the National University of Ireland.
