Cardinal Suenens' working visit

CARDINAL Josef Suenens arrived in Scotland on Monday for a week long working visit which included four charismatic meetings — two in Glasgow and two in Edinburgh.
He was .ivcn a tumultuous welcome on Monday night by more than I(E) people at St Mary's church, Abercrombie Street in one of Glasgow's most run-down, areas.
He also met Cardinal Gordon Gray,. president of the Scottish bishops conference, Archbishop Thomas Winning of Glasgow, Bishop Charles Renfrew, the episcopal adviser to the charismatic movement and other members of the 11-strong hierarchy.
The charismatic meetings in Glasgow and Edinburgh were arranged through the Catholic organisation, Scottish Catholic Renewal and Scottish Churches Renewal, which has links with the Scottish Council of Churches.
Cardinal Suenens is one of the leading figures in the charismatic movement and is a regular visitor to Britain.
