CHILDREN'S HOUSES
BISHOP HEALY of Gibraltar last Saturday blessed two new houses of the Southwark Catholic Rescue Society, each for 12 boys and girls, and one larger house for Is boys, at St. Anne's and St. Joseph's, Orpington, Kent.
The Bishop, a former secretary of the Rescue Society, repudiated rumours of his ill health. He spoke of the love that surrounded the children in Orpington as a factor even more important in their lives than the size of their houses. He congratulated the secretary, Canon Arbuthnott, on the progress made. which had been postponed for lack of money.
Mr. S. Gwynn, superintending inspector of the Home Office Children's Department. expressed re
gret that Canon Arbuthnott had now to leave child care to undertake his duties as national chaplain of the Young Christian Workers.
Malcolm Laird McCullegh, eighth child of Mr. and Mrs. John MeCullagh, of Brigg, Lincolnshire, was baptised by Bishop Ellis in St. Mary's amen, Brigg, on Sunday.
Bishop Boghaert, C.SS.R., of Roseau, B.W.1., is in London on a short visit.
The second German Day at the Brussels Exhibition took place on Tue.sday when Cardinal Frings, Archbishop of Cologne, celebrated High Mass in -the Vatican Church at the Exhibition. The Aachen Cathedral choir sang the Mass.
