Liverpool archdiocese to honour Blessed Dominic
THE ARCHDIOCESE of Liverpool will celebrate Masses in honour of the priest who received Cardinal John Henry Newman into the Church, marking the Pope’s visit to Britain.
On the day Pope Benedict beatifies Cardinal Newman in Birmingham at the end of his four-day visit to Britain, Liverpool archdiocese will remember Blessed Dominic Barberi, the Italian Passionist. The Mass will be celebrated by Fr Peter Hannah, the parish priest of St Anne and Blessed Dominic, Sutton, St Helens, which Blessed Dominic founded.
It will take place at the same time as the beatification of Cardinal Newman. Archbishop Patrick Kelly will also be celebrating a Mass in Blessed Dominic’s honour on August 26.
