MERCHANT SEAMEN Sie,—Surely Mr. Carroll must have been dreaming of

the past when he stated last week that the Victoria Docks Home " is the only Catholic Home for Seamen in the country." If he had referred tothe current issue of the Apostleship of the Sea Quarterly he would have noticed that Barrow-in Furness. Birkenhead, Cardiff, Hull, Liverpool, London, Lowestoft, Salford and South Shields all provide " full recreational facilities, canteen, etc.,' also that a club is being established at Middlesbrough. On the next page he would find references to the similar work for seamen being carried on in Scottish ports — Glasgow, Dundee, Greenock, Leith, Aberdeen, etc. At least one of the smaller Sea Apostolate Centres in Scotland can provide sleeping accommodntion for seamen as well as the Victoria Docks Home in London There may be others for all I know.
