Papal history in the making

MALTA is an island with 700 priests and over NO sisters. With just over 300,000 inhabitants, the religious population reflects the Catholic ethos of the island. And this year for the first time in its history, Malta is greeting the Pope.
It is fitting that it is John Paul H who is making history by visiting Malta. Often described as the travelling pope, he will visit a people who themselves have emigrated all over the world.
There are plans to fly home emigrants from Malta living as far away as Australia and the west coast of America to herald and welcome the Pope. It is also expected that many Europeans will travel to be with the Pope on this historic trip and stay a few days to experience the hospitality of the island.
Aquasun in Londor a Maltese travel agency, is arranging for visitors from London to make the visit down to the Mediterranean island at this special time.
The Pope's itinerary is a busy one. Arriving at Luqa Airport on Friday May 25 he will proceed to St John's Cathedral where he will meet and address clergy and religious. At 7.30 pm he will be received by the civil authorities of Malta.
On the following day John Paul will visit the island diocese of Gozo. On the boat ride back John Paul will stop for a few moments near the islands of St Paul. From here on to the Grand Harbour, the Pope's boat will be accompanied by many of the local fishing boats and launches.
On the Sunday morning, May 27, the Pope will address the university staff and students at the Malta UnisersiO, Ta Orodd. He will then go to the Ta'Qrogg stadium where he will meet Maltese and Gozitan youth.
At noon, John Paul will visit St Paul's Grotto, Rabat, where a group of sick people will gather.
