CHAPLAIN REARADMIRAL DIES

A retired Rear-Admiral in the Chaplain Corps of the U.S. Navy, Mgr. John Brady, died in New York last week after an illness lasting more than two-and-a-half years. He was 65. Mgr. Brady was the first Catholic chaplain to reach flag rank in the U.S. Navy, in which he served from 1914 to 1934.
He won the Navy Cross, the Croix de Guerre and the Distinguished Service Cross for aiding wounded under heavy enemy fire.
