Catholic mortgages to double

MORE TIIAN £2 million could be invested with the Catholic Building Society this year if money continues to flow in at the present rate, the Society reported this week.
If support continues at this level it would allow the amount of money given in home loans to be doubled in the second half of 1980, it said.
The Society says that its progress in the first six months of the year has been much better than many of its larger competitors. Savings were 16 per cent up on the previous half year while withdrawals rose by only 7.5 per cent.
The inflow of savings in May and June was "remarkably high, • at twice the average level received by building societies as a whole."
The Society has just opened a new branch office in Leeds and more than 200 parishes have been sent details of its services. It has a policy of maximum help to first time homebuyers.
