The general chapter of the Order of the gercedarians has elected Fr. Alfredo Scotti, as Master General. The Mercedarian Order, also known as the Order of the Blessed Mary of Mercy for the Redemption of Captives, was founded in 1218 to visit prisoners and seeking their release.
