6th-form college rejected —

NO SIXTH form college is likely to bq set up in the inner-London area of Westminster diocese after a recommendation to Bishop Konstant, chairman of the education commission, from the schools committee that the proposed college would be neither of benefit to pupils nor consistent with established policy.
A sixth form college for the divisions one and two areas of the diocese was first mooted last autumn when plans were put
forward for schools reorganisation to meet the problem of falling numbers of pupils. Bishop Konstant wrote to school heads on May I raising the possibility again.
At that time few heads showed enthusiasm and most thought the
idea had already been dropped as a realistic proposal. But other Catholic authoritiesafrad-addred the sixth form college system, and most significantly, Southwark archdiocesan consultations favoured colleges south of the Thames.
Bishop Konstant meets with the seven heads of division-one schools later this term.
