Pope Blesses Franco's Charitable Organisations

The Pope has accorded, in the most expressive terms, his paternal benediction to the two chief Nationalist organisations: Asistencia a Frentes y Hosnitales (Assistance to the Fronts and Hospitals), and Auxilio Social (Social Aid).
It was to the first of these two organisations that the CATHOLIC HERALD dispatched the condensed milk—a gift made possible through the generosity of the readers of the CA1 101.1e HERALD.
Cardinal Pacelli, Papal Secretary of State, has written a cordial letter to Don Jose Yanguas Messia. Spanish Nationalist Ambassador to the Holy See. congratulating him on the Christian spirit which animates the two organisations.
The Ciovernment of Nationalist Spain has given Mgr. Hildebrand Antoniutti, former Vicar Apostolic at Burgos, the high honour of the Grand Cross of the Order of Isabella.—C.P.
Irish Prisoners of Franco
From a Correspondent Three young men from Ireland who fought on the Spanish Government side against General Franco and who were among a group of 190 prisoners of war held by Franco at the Campo de Concentracion, near Burgos, have been transferred in a batch of 100 of the 190 to Valencia following the recent negotiations for the exchange of prisoners between the two sides. They are: Michael McGrath, whose nearest relative is Mr. A. OTuanne, of 13, South Mall, Cork; Hugh O'Donnell (John O'Donnell, Burton Port, County Donegal); John O'Beirne (Mrs. Hoban, The Laurels, Balbriggan, County Dublin).
Mr. Frank Ryan, the Irish Republican leader, who held the rank of major in the Irish Unit in the International Brigade, is among the Irish-born prisoners still at the Campo de Concentracion. He was recently before a court-martial at Burgos, General Franca's headquarters.
