. Tito Condemned Bishop to Death Something of what is really
involved in the Tito occupation of Trieste and its hinterland can be understood from the news that Mgr, Carlo Margotti, Archbishop of Gorizia, was arrested and condemned to death by a Tito tribunal, according to Reuter. Ile has since been rescued by Italian patriots and is on his way to Rome. He has stated that the Yugoslays have rounded up all Italians between 16 and 60 for, forced labour.
In addition to the Archbishop of Gorizia, the Bishop of Ljubljana, in Catholic Slovenia, Mgr. Rozman, has been arrested by the Trio forces, and Mgr. Santin. Bishop of Trieste, has been put under house arrest. Unfortunately the tale of violeat Catholic persecution under Communist or near-Communist regimes does not end there, according to Polish sources.
They report, as from Rome, that Mgr. Siipyj, Archbishop of Lwow, in the Ruthenian rite, Mgr. Kocylowski, Bishop of Praemysl, and Mgr. Chomyszyn, Bishop of Stanislawow, both of the same rite, have been arrested. Numerous arrests are said to have been made among the rest of the Uniate secular and regular clergy.
