I SHARE the regret at the forthcoming retirement of the Church of Ireland Archbishop of Armagh, Dr George Simms. I remember with amusement one twinkling meeting with him many ears ago when the Irish Televiion service began.
Father Dodd was the Catholic Chaplain appointed and the Rev bay the Church of' Ireland representative. Mr Day's appointment came some time after Father Dodd's and was immediately dubbed in Radio Eireann as "the man who got even with Dodd".
I remember telling Dr Simms about this. He chuckled well enough but immediately and smoothly topped it with: "Aft! But every Dodd must have his* Day-.
