Mary and Joseph figure in religious awards

ON TUESDAY at Lambeth Palace, Bishop Agnellus Andrew of Numana, Chairman of the Catholic Bishops' Committee for Communications, Development and Policy presented £3,000 worth of awards for the best religious radio programmes.
Top winner (awarded £1,000) of the Sandford St Martin Religious Radio Awards, was for the first time an entry from BBC Radio One: "Peace on Earth". The programme focused on the message of Christmas in a violent world, and was devised and produced
by John Forrest.
Winners of the Best Local Radio Station and Best Local Radio Programme awards were, respectively, BBC Radio Derby and "Bethlehem Radio — Newslines", the latter being an ingenious news-style "coverage" of the Nativity by Bethlehem Radio, complete with actuality and interviews.
The Sandford St Martin Trust is a Church of England Trust presided over by Anglican Bishop Colin James of Winchester, who also acts as Chairman of the Trust.
