70,000 ask for tickets to Wembley

A PPLICATIONS for 70,000 "tickets have already been made for the Mary Year rally in the Wembley Stadium on Rosary Sunday, October 3, when Cardinal Griffin will solemnly crown the statue of Our Lady of Willesden.
The only counties not yet represented in the applications are Rutland, Cumberland and Westmorland.
The new Apostolic Delegate, Archbishop O'Hara, will be among the Bishops present at the ceremony and at the pageant of Our Lady which precedes it.
The two crowns for Our Lady and the Child will be brought in by two Privy Chamberlains walking in the Cardinal's procession.
After the Cardinals address and the crowning ceremony, the statue will be borne around the arena.
A procession of 2,000 men will take the statue in procession from the stadium to the shrine at Willesden, reaching the church at about 6.30 p.m.
There it will be received by the Cardinal and Bishops and placed in the Lady Chapel. The Apostolic Delegate will give Pontifical &nes diction.
25 choirs
The ceremony in the church will be relayed to the people outside.
Finally, the statue will he left in the sanctuary for veneration until the church is closed that night.
Much of the singing at Wembley will he led by massed choirs under the direction of Fr. Wilfred Pumey. More than 25 choirs have already joined together for this occasion and rehearsals have begun. Any other perish choirs wishing to join this group should write immediately to Fr. Pumey at 52 Uxbridge Road, W.7.
The statue to be crowned is lint a new one—as previously announced —but the one which has long been venerated at Willesden.
