j obs plan
THE Manpower Services Commission has given its backing to a plan drawn up by a Central London parish to find jobs for 21 local residents, and to help many others towards finding useful employment.
Under the new scheme a community centre attached to the parish church of St Francis Assisi in Pottery Lane, Notting Hill, which has been run by volunteers for the past three years, will take on a permanent staff of 21 with the aid of funds from the MSC. The centre will aim to provide a wider ranging community programme to deal with the needs of local residents. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided seven days a week by a full-time canteen staff.
