Mass goes from stable to granary
THE Mass centre for the 36 Catholics in the Derbyshire village of Chellaston has been moved from the stable attached to the Rose and Crown Inn to an
upstairs room — formerly a granary—at the New Inn.
The stable. where Mass has been celebrated for three years. was urgently needed for temporary living accommodation. and the Catholics were advised to get into touch with the landlord of the New Inn.
After the upstairs room had been scrubbed and redecorated. the altar. organ and benches were installed. and the first Mass was celebrated by Fr. Simon Nolan. parish priest of St. George and All Soldier Saints', Derby.
