SIR' Judging from the notice published in last week's CATHOLIC HERALD, there appears to be some misapprehension with regard to the present status of the Catholic Central Library. For the information of your readers and subscribers to the Library, mayI point out that the Library Council, under the chairmanship of Mgr. John Barton, is still functioning and any queries about the future of the Library should be sent to me at the address below.
Dorothy Kerr (Secretary) 33 Wilfred Street, S.W.I. wish to thank all those readers who have written in with most valuable suggestions and offers of help concerning the future of the Catholic Central Library. All these suggestions will now be submitted to the commission which has been appointed by His Eminence the Cardinal. under Mgr. Barton's chairmanship, to report to him concerning the future of the library.
From the statement issued, in lieu of any minutes. after the last council meeting, the chairman's resignation was dated to take effect on December 31 and the hon. secretary's and librarian's as from January 31.
It is therefore in February that Mgr. Barton, as acting chairman. with the remaining members of the council, may decide to avail themselves of some of the wonderful offers of voluntary help which have been made.
I have much pleasure in submitting them to him in order to carry on the library until its future can be decided.
All those who have written will. I am sure, wish to join with me in thanking His Eminence for his prompt action.
Henrietta Bower 3 Oakhill Road, S.W.1.5.
