Two special services to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes were held at Westminster Cathedral on Monday evening. At the children's service Bishop Craven reminded them that they should pray for the Cardinal, for the Church and her suffering peoples all over the world and that they would grow up to be good Catholics. Fr. Vernon Johnson preached to a packed congregation at the second service.
The statue of Our lady of Lourdes was carried in procession after both services. Bishop Myers led the second procession, in which representatives of Catholic organisations from many parts of London and the home counties took part.
