BY JOE JENKINS
THE HERALD HAS learnt that a large number of former Anglican clergy now Catholic deacons are expected to be ordained by Cardinal Hume at Westminster Cathedral on 1 November. Several ordinands arc thought to be married.
A former Anglican clergyman, Canon Christopher Colven, of St Stephen's, Gloucester Road, central London, is the only name confirmed for reception at the cere
mony. Canon Colven was received as a Catholic deacon in late July at a ceremony in Cardinal Hume's private chapel at Archbishop's House, Westminster.
Some of the proposed ordinands are not yet aware that they are candidates and some have not yet been received as deacons.
Last December, 11 former Anglican priests were received as Catholic clergy at Westminster Cathedral by Cardinal Hume.
