" BOMBED, BUT BEHOLD WE LIVE " —Rector of a thrice bombed church

From a C.H. Reporter
" Bombed, but behold we live—and we keep smiling," said the Rev. Bernard Kelly when I spoke to him about his most recent experience.
Situated on the south side of London in a fairly prominent position, the church, schools and presbytery have suffered from the effects of three bombings The first when two bombs fell in the immediate neighbourhood and destroyed half the schools, On the second occasion the church was very badly shaken, windows were shattered, an arch split, and a but made in the walls.
The latest incident occurred on Sunday night, when a very heavy bomb fell just opposite the presbytery and the blast carried away the gable, the railings, shattered the windows and brought down ceilings. It so badly shook the church again that it will now have to be trussed up.
The classrooms of the school which remained from the first bombing had just been repaired and made usable, and now again they have windows and ceilings and doors all broken.
No one was injured, and Fr. Kelly, while grateful for the buildings' providential escape front complete destruction, fears that another bomb anywhere in the near vicinity will bring church and presbytery crashing.
