`Father Oprah' is removed

FR ALBERTO CUTIÉ, nicknamed “Father Oprah” for his role as an agony uncle on American radio, has been removed from his parish after a tabloid magazine published photos of him cuddling a woman on a beach.
Fr Cutié, who is renowned for his work on television and radio, was removed from his post as administrator of St Francis de Sales parish in Miami Beach, Florida, and as general director and president of Pax Catholic Communications. The photos were published in the Spanishlanguage magazine TVNotas.
Miami Archbishop John C Favalora said he was “deeply saddened by the news surrounding Fr Alberto Cutié”.
“I apologise on behalf of the church in Miami to the parishioners of St Francis de Sales parish, where he serves as administrator, to the listeners and supporters of Radio Paz and Radio Peace, and to the entire archdiocese,” he said.
