Priest killed
FR CON Harkin and his housekeeper, Mrs Nora Wood, died in an explosion that wrecked their home at St Mary's Church, Coventry, on Monday. A gas leak was thought to be responsible for the blast.
Veal dispute
THE HIGH Court this week deferred its judgement over the decision by magistrates that calves raised for veal at a farm run by a Catholic order had not been caused unnecessary suffering. An animal rights group had asked the High Court to overrule the magistrates decision, but a lawyer defending the Premonstratensian Canons of Storrington Priory, West Sussex, said they had not erred the law.
Abortion rise
ABORTIONS in England and Wales are increasing because of fears of a link between the Pill and cancer, according to the Family Planning Association. The number of abortions performed over July. August and September last year were up 6.3 per cent on the same three months in 1983.
New routine
THE EPIPHANY Dancers, an ecumenical group formed ten years ago, are to put up a service for Holy Week on March 26 at Maria Assumpta Chapel, Kensington, London. The service, entitled "Waiting for the Lord" will include readings, music and dance
