San Francisco Archbishop's Plea for Lithuania

SAN FRANCISCO
" Lithuania has suffered," Mgr. Mitty, Archbishop of San' Francisco, stated at a Solemn High Mass for Lithuania, " from two totalitarian nations, and lovers of justice all over the world deplore the destruction of liberty and justice in Lithuania."
" The national aspirations and actual wishes of the Lithuanian people themselves do not seem to count at all," Fr. Meagher, the preacher at the Mass, said, " and the moral right of nations to independence must cede before the might of power."
" The Lithuanians sent out the call: ' if the Germans use force, well, let blood flow,' " Fr. Meagher said. "And the blood that flowed during the suc 1 ceeding years is sufficient answer to thc lying propaganda that would have us believe that the revolt of 1941 was a pro-German revolt. .
