Pope John has conferred a Knighthood of the Holy Sepulchre on Mr. William Atkinson of the Catenian Chichester Circle. Mr. Atkinson, born in Cornsay, Co. Durham, 1881, was the first Catholic Mayor of Acton and received the King George V Jubilee Medal. He was made Papal Knight of St. Gregory in 1936 and was elevated to a Knight Commander of the same Order in 1956. He now lives at Harpenden, Herts.
