THERE ARE FEW BAD FILMS, BUT.
FR. DECLAN, 0.F.M., TO CATHOLIC ACTION GIRLS A Catholic committee, asked to help in organising relief for flood victims, regretted that it could not be represented because it was meeting at the same time to discuss a family campaign.
Fr. Eugene Langdale gave this example of Catholic Action in reverse, during the Y.C.G., Training Week held by the Catholic Action Girls' Organisation last week at Les Oiseaux Convent, Westgate-on-Sea,
Beginning with a two-day retreat, the Week was attended by 40 leaders from all parts of England and by representatives of Catholic Youth organisations abroad Including two from the British Zone in Germany.
Fr. Langdale remarked that the people who were too busy to aid flood victims were so hypnotised by the mechanics of a movement, that it took them away from the reality of their lives to something artificial.
"Leaders pooling their experience and getting to know more and more deeply, with a Christian sense, the needs, problems and realities of the environment in which they live, will show the extent to which they provide an influence in that environment and help to leaven the mass," he said.
Speaking on the cinema, Fr. Melon, 0.F.M,. said that every Catholic who goes to the cinema should go as a critic.
There were few bad films„ but there were dangerous films, which did not portray evil blatantly hut did cause a gradual and subtle breakdown of Christian philosophy.
