I Knew Mgr. Von Galen Well
By a C.H. Reporter
Of course, I knew Mgr. Count Von Galen very well, said Herr MaierHultschin, former editor of the two famous Catholic newspapers, the " Oberschlessischer Kurier " and " Der Deutsche in Polen," when I visited him in his Swiss Cottage flat during the week.
Count von Galen. he told me, comes Front an old Westphalian family who have given many good Catholic leaden and priests to Germany. His father was a leader'in the Centruni Party, which as everybody knows was the recognised Catholic Party in pre-Nazi Germany. The Bishop himself boasts of himself and his family ri " We Gains are neither particular clever nor baudsome but Catholicism is in our bones."
" He is undoubtedly the most popular Bishop in Germany," said Herr Maier-Hultschin, " and his every pronouncement travels around the Reich in record time."
